HSS-Austin would like to invite our students to participate in our annual Book Character Dress Up Day! You may dress as your favorite book character on this day, but don’t forget to bring in your book or a photocopy of the cover of the book. Even our teachers and staff will take part in the fun as well…so let’s get ready for an exciting day!
Please remember there are a few items we will not allow on this day:
NO masks, face paint completely covering the face, inappropriate costumes or toy weapons.

Red Ribbon Week is an important initiative to provide safety awareness regarding the elimination of drug use. Our campus will participate in Red Ribbon Week with daily activities to show our support to educate our students and encourage them to be drug free.
- Monday – Put A Cap On Drugs – Hat Day
- Tuesday – Sock It To Drugs Day – Crazy Sock Day
- Wednesday – Be On A Drug Free Team Day – Wear Your Favorite Team Gear (team jersey or t-shirt)
- Thursday – Shade Out Drugs Day – Wear Sunglasses
- Friday – Show Your Red Ribbon Spirit – School Spirit, College Shirt or Red Shirt Day

The St. David’s Foundation Dental Program will be on campus Thursday & Friday, October 11th & 12th to provide free dental screenings for all HSS-Austin students that would like to participate. A licensed dentist will view the student’s teeth to determine if they need treatment. If the dentist determines the student needs treatment, they will receive a ‘Dental Treatment Consent Form’ for parent’s approval. Students who do not need further treatment will also receive a form letting their parents know that no treatment is necessary.

All students received the first form which is the Dental Screening Form. Parents only need to return this form if you DO NOT want your student to participate in the free dental screening. If you DO NOT return this form your student will have their dental screening.
Monday, October 8th will be a student holiday and staff development day. There will also be scheduled Parent-Teacher Conferences held in the afternoon beginning at 2pm. All conferences should be scheduled with your child’s teacher.

The open enrollment period for new Harmony Public Schools students is approaching fast.
Open Enrollment for campuses statewide begins Nov. 1 and continues through Feb. 10 for students wishing to enroll for the Fall 2019 semester.

Parent Teacher Conference Day is scheduled for Monday, October 8th beginning at 2pm. If you have not scheduled your Parent Teacher Conference, please do so as soon as possible. If you are unable to schedule your conference on that day contact your student’s teacher to make other arrangements. Kindergarten & 1st Grade parents, please join our principal, Mr. Subas for Coffee Talk on Wednesday, September 26th at 8:00am. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while providing your valuable feedback about effective ways to continue our growth and improve our school.
We will host an informational meeting for all parents of our returning Gifted & Talented (GATE) students on Tuesday, September 25th from 5-6pm.
